White or almost crystalline powder or compacted crystalline masses supplied as pellets or colorless or white crystal.
Solubilty
Slightly soluble in water , very soluble in ethanol (96 percent) freely soluble in fatty oils, it dissolves in solutions of alkali hydroxides.

A) Melting Point of Residue
Between 64ºC to 67ºC
B) Melting Point of residue
Melting point of the residue between 85ºC to 88ºC. A bluish Color should produce.
C) Ferric Chloride Test
A bluish Colour should produce.
Appearence of Solution
The Solution is clear and not more intensely coloured than refrence solution BY6.
Acidity of alkalinity
Note more than 0.2 ml of 0.01 M sodium hydroxide should require produce a pure yellow colour.
